About Aquarium Specialty Aquarium Specialty began as an interest more than 25 years ago when I graduated from College with a degree in Biology. My first job found me in Richmond, VA and within one month of receiving my first measly paycheck. I trekked out and bought a 55-gallon salt water fish tank, 2" x 4" stand and some starter fish (under gravel sold separately). After the tank was cycled, I picked up a maroon clown and a yellow tang. Within 4 months I realized that a fish only tank wasn't going to be enough, so I began learning more about how to keep corals alive in captivity. Like a lot of newbies, I started with green star polyps, leather corals and mushrooms. About twelve moves later, I found my wife-to-be in Charlotte, North Carolina. We picked up our things (two 55-gallon tanks, livestock and water) and moved to the hottest place on the planet, Columbia, South Carolina (or so it seems).
