The planetGOLD programme works in partnership with governments and mining communities worldwide to significantly improve the production practices and work environment of artisanal and small-scale miners—who collectively produce 20% of the world's gold. By working to close the financing gap, promoting formalization, and connecting mining communities with mercury-free technology and formal markets, the programme works to demonstrate a pathway to safe and cost-effective small-scale gold mining practices that benefit everyone, from mine to market.
